Abstract: Cytogenetic consequences of prolonged influence of damp soil radio nuclide pollution of a near zone of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station on the seeds of winter wheat 18, 19, 20 and 25 years after the accident is studied. It is revealed the increasing of the frequency of chromosomal aberrations that are exceeds their level in control in 2,5-5,3, 2,5-4,0, 2,8-3,5 and 2,0-7,6 times, respectively. Their range mainly includes pair fragments and dicentric bridges. Lagging chromosomes appear only at influence of the highest background values of soil radiation pollution and testify the aneugenic influence of ionizing radiation. Lack of direct dependence of frequency of aberrant cells from density of soil radio nuclide pollution calls the possibility of use of the indicators of specific radioactivity and power of an exposition dose for forecasting of the organisms’ genetic violations level in the conditions of the raised natural radiation background in question.
