Abstract: The article analyzes competitive characteristics of the teacher of primary special school. We defined the main knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for successful work in case of special education. In addition, we proposed hierarchy of competences, which are the basis for renovation of psychological and educational sciences in higher educational pedagogical institutions in the process of training would-be teachers to work with primary school pupils of different level of development, included in general studies in educational institutions.
